Mercersburg Aquatic Center
Mercersburg, PA
Project Description
The Lloyd Aquatic Center at Mercersburg Academy is a premier 41,000-square-foot facility designed to serve both competitive athletes and the broader school community. The center reflects the Academy’s long tradition of excellence in athletics and its commitment to student wellness.
At the heart of the project is the Furnary Pool, a 50-meter Olympic-size competition pool equipped with movable bulkheads. This system allows the pool to be reconfigured for 25-yard short course or 50-meter long course events, offering the versatility needed to host USA Swimming and USA Diving competitions. A dedicated diving well further enhances training opportunities and supports Mercersburg’s diving program.
More than just a competition venue, the aquatic center was designed for flexibility. The facility supports everything from high-level training and recovery workouts to recreational use, kayaking instruction, and fitness programming for students, staff, and families. Its multipurpose nature ensures that the space remains active and valuable throughout the year.
The project required careful integration of advanced mechanical and aquatic systems, as well as collaboration with specialized contractors to achieve competition-level standards. The result is a world-class facility that not only elevates Mercersburg’s athletic programs but also provides a lasting resource for the entire campus community.
